Stardawg Strain History
Stardawg strain (AKA Stardog) is a sativa-dominant 90/10 hybrid coming from the California Bay Area. The Stardawg cannabis strain is a cross between Chemdog #4 and Tres Dawg. Without a doubt, most weed smokers these days have heard of Chemdog. She has been a top strain since the early ’90s and is the foundation of many significant cannabis breeding projects. As a matter of fact, Chemdog was eventually bred with an Afghani #1 and backcrossed resulting in the creation of the strain Tres Dawg. Stardawg resides comfortably near the top of the ‘Dawg’ family line. Stardawg’s sativa effects dominate over the indica ones and produce a blissful cerebral buzz. Medical users can appreciate the soft waves of pain relief and appetite stimulation offered by the strain. Recreational users often enjoy a wake and bake session with Stardawg. They tend to love the upbeat and focused high that Stardawg offers.
Appearance
A properly grown and cured batch of Stardawg will produce dense, popcorn shaped buds with forest and mossy green hues. The honey-colored orange pistils stick out against its snowy white trichomes. Dark purple and gray leaves contrast the lighter colored shades of the buds. Compared to other sativa forward strains Stardawg produces relatively little leaf. Thereby making short work of trimming.
Aroma
Breaking up a bud quickly fills the room with a distinct woody and skunky aroma. Afterward, a pungent fuel and synthetic lemon scent becomes more prominent. Furthermore, some novice smokers may find the dank smell to be somewhat of an acquired taste. Stardawg has an intensely refreshing lemon flavor that lingers on the tongue.
Stardog Terpenes
Stardawg has a citrus, peppery, and herbal terpene profile. This is from the presence of the terpenes myrcene, caryophyllene, limonene, and humulene. Altogether these terpenes play an important role in the life cycle of a cannabis plant. In fact, they aid in a plant’s ability to deter pests and prevent fungal infestations. Not to mention providing the intoxicating aroma that lures humans.
Cannabinoids
Stardawg medical cannabis is used to help control symptoms of exhaustion, stress, and anxiety. In addition to this, SD may help to increase focus and help patients with ADD and ADHD to stay on track. The THC content is 16-25% with a CBD level of 0.1-0.56%. Stardawg can also be useful for people experiencing a loss of appetite, nausea, and vomiting.
Effects
Five minutes after the first puff you’ll feel a rising sense of awareness. The smashing THC content manifests with an intense cerebral buzz, swiftly followed by a boost of creative energy. Afterward, smokers will feel talkative, giggly, and agreeable. Usually, the potent effects can last for up to 3 hours. SD is a great daytime strain but also suited for social events like going out to dinner with friends.
Growing Stardawg Seeds
Growing Stardawg seeds provides great enjoyment for those of us with a fondness for sativa dominant genetics. If grown outdoors, it prefers a spot with plenty of early morning sunshine. Under normal conditions, harvest season falls in mid-October before the frost arrives. Outdoor growers can expect a yield of around 10-11 ounces per plant. Indoor SD plants require 9-10 weeks of flowering time and produce an average of 3-4oz/m2.
