Ice Cream Cake Strain History
Ice Cream Cake is a modern indica dominant hybrid strain 75/25 indica/sativa that was created by Mad Scientist Genetics. A cross of Gelato 33 X Wedding Cake strains, Ice Cream Cake carries a rich history of Girl Scout Cookies, Durban Poison, and Kush lineage. Still relatively new to the scene, ICC was previously available only as a clone. But more recently, seeds have started entering the market to many grower’s delights. Ice Cream Cake is very high in face-melting THC and has a delicious taste you’re sure to remember.
Appearance
Ice Cream Cake has dense teardrop-shaped buds with varying shades of green and thick orange hairs. The calyxes are covered with frosty white trichomes and connect at the corners giving an interesting geometric shape to the buds. ICC has a mix of purple and gold highlights throughout the flowers.
Ice Cream Cake Aroma
ICC has a vanilla cake frosting with an earthy lemon zest aroma. The senses are instantly stimulated by the complex smell that changes from sweet floral and piney to spiced hash. Ice Cream Cake goes about as far a strain can go into confectionary flavors while still containing noticeable skunky cannabis characteristics.
Terpenes
Perceptive smokers should be able to identify the different terpene signatures of the Ice Cream Cake cannabis strain. With a taste reminiscent of sweet vanilla cake batter and fruitiness, it’s easy to see how ICC acquired its name. The primary terpenes found in ICC samples are limonene, pinene, linalool, humulene, guaiol, and bisabolol.
Cannabinoids
With calming effects and a high THC 20-25% average. Ice Cream Cake can help to treat such conditions as depression, chronic pain, insomnia, nausea, and appetite loss. Although CBD is generally low about 0.5%, many patients favor ICC for its therapeutic benefits, as this bud is thought to relieve muscle aches, migraines, and anxiety.
Effects
Even when using moderate amounts, ICC quickly goes from a creative and joyful high to utterly liquidating your ability to think. Make sure that any project you might start after smoking Ice Cream Cake doesn’t need to be finished right away.
Afternoon or nighttime use is preferred unless you’re looking to end your day before it begins. ICC is a nice strain for relaxing and watching a movie before bedtime although you likely won’t remember what movie you’re watching.
Growing Ice Cream Cake Seeds
Ice cream cake strain can grow well both indoor and outdoor. However, she can be a fairly picky strain to cultivate if you are having trouble managing air circulation and relative humidity levels. Make sure to space plants adequately as ICC tends to make lots of horizontal moves with her branches and root system. Remove any underdeveloped branches lower in the canopy to reduce humidity. This will also allow more energy to flow to the larger colas.
Ice Cream Cake grows to medium height with a bushy stature. Indoor plants require 8-9 weeks for flowering and produce a yield of 17oz/m2. Outdoor ICC loves growing in warmer climates using a “living” soil. An outdoor yield of 19-21oz/plant can be achieved when harvested in early-mid October.
