Blue Widow Seeds
Blue Widow is a strain created by Dinafem Seeds when they bred two cannabis superstars: Blueberry and White Widow. The combination of these Sativa/Indica strains brought about a top-notch and well balanced 50/50 hybrid of outstanding quality. Blue Widow has an amazing bag appeal and is a true crowd-pleaser. Other names for this strain include Berry White, Blue Venom, and Bluedow. BW is a standard menu item in most Amsterdam coffee shops and a best-seller in North American dispensaries. It won 1st prize in the Best Outdoor division at the 2015 Copa Cannabis Cup in Uruguay. In 2013, it also placed 3rd at the Treating Yourself Expo Cannabis Cup organized in Toronto, Canada.
Appearance
Blue Widow’s buds have an irresistible quality. They exhibit light tints of blue and purple. The nugs have a coating of long orange hairs and numerous trichomes. Fan leaves turn dark purple with charcoal black and yellow highlights. A heavy resin producer, Blue Widows flowers are coated with a spectacular quality of resin that’s perfect for hash-making.
Aroma
Blue Widow has a bubbly blueberry soda smell that tickles and excites the senses. Some bright citrus, musky, and pine notes add complexity and depth to the strain. The smoke is very hashy and blueberry-like with a notable lung expansion effect. When smoking, BW fills the room with an irresistible sweet berry aroma with a hint of earthy spice that hangs in the air. Blue Widow is often used for cannabis cooking. The strain imparts a delicious blueberry tang to your favorite homemade edibles.
Blue Widow Terpenes
Wild blueberry with sweet floral and bubblegum flavors dominate the Blue Widow terpene profile. The usual suspects’ myrcene, limonene, and caryophyllene are the most prominent terpenes in BW. Pinene, humulene, and eudesmol also show up to the party bringing a range of woody, hoppy and beeswax flavors sure to make your mouth water.
Cannabinoids
The THC content of this strain ranges between 12-17 %, which is average to slightly above average. The CBD content is usually around 0.3%. Medical users find this strain to help alleviate symptoms such as pain, loss of appetite, and restlessness. It helps alleviate headaches, cramps, and strained muscles. While not high in CBD, it does help patients experiencing nausea to become more comfortable. Blue Widow is a good strain if you want to stay focused and alert but also feel some mild symptom relief.
Effects
Blue Widow delivers a cerebrally stimulating and very visual psychedelic high. As time passes it produces a soothing sensation that relaxes without melting you into the furniture. An excellent strain for people who are on the go. Blue Widow is best enjoyed at midday or late in the afternoon.
Growing Blue Widow Seeds
Blue Widow has enormous potential. Every sort of grower, experienced or not, can obtain great results growing feminized Blue Widow seeds. Although not especially large plants, they’re surprisingly compact, with lots of side branches that finish full of chunky blue and purple-tinted buds. Flowering can be sluggish at first, then it rushes to the finish line providing abundant yields. Blue Widow grown indoors can yield about 19oz/m2 with just 7-9 weeks of indoor flowering. Outdoor plants may produce an average of 35oz/ plant and are ready for harvest by late September-early October. Blue Widow is an absolute pleasure to grow. New and experienced growers will love working with this gorgeous and flavorful strain.
